Blink-182's Mark Hoppus says he is 'cancer free'

Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Blink-182 singer and musician Mark Hoppus says he is cancer free.

Hoppus, 49, shared the news Wednesday on Instagram after being diagnosed with Stage 4 lymphoma earlier this year.

"Just saw my oncologist and I'm cancer free!!" Hoppus wrote. "Thank you God and universe and friends and family and everyone who sent support and kindness and love."

"Still have to get scanned every six months and it'll take me until the end of the year to get back to normal but today is an amazing day and I feel so blessed. Can I get a W in the chat?" he said.

Singer John Mayer, actor and comedian Adam Devine, and music duo Dan + Shay celebrated with Hoppus in the comments.

"Just the best," Mayer wrote.

"Agghhhghh!!! YES!!! Thank God! congrats buddy! Best feeling in the world. Enjoy it!!!!" Devine added.

"amazing news! congrats man!" Dan + Shay said.

Hoppus went public with his cancer diagnosis in June and said he had been undergoing chemotherapy for three months.

"I have cancer. It sucks and I'm scared, and at the same time I'm blessed with incredible doctors and family and friends to get me through this," the star tweeted at the time.

"I still have months of treatment ahead of me but I'm trying to remain hopeful and positive. Can't wait to be cancer free and see you all at a concert in the near future. Love to you all," he said.

Hopper said during a Twitch stream in July that he was diagnosed with Stage 4 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma.

Hopper is best known as a member of the rock band Blink-182. The group released the album Nine in 2019 and two singles, "Not Another Christmas Song" and "Quarantine" in 2020.
