Sept. 9 (UPI) -- Netflix is giving a glimpse of the new special Diana: The Musical.
The streaming service shared a trailer Thursday for Diana: The Musical, a filmed version of the Broadway musical Diana, featuring Jeanna de Waal as Princess Diana.
Diana is based on the life of Princess Diana, who died at age 36 in August 1997. The production is directed by Christopher Ashley and features music and lyrics by David Bryan and a book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro.
"Diana: The Musical celebrates the life of Princess Diana and the light of her legacy that continues to shine across the world," an official description reads.
The trailer shows the Diana cast revisit moments from Princess Diana's life, including her 1981 wedding to Prince Charles (Roe Hartrampf). Erin Davie co-stars as Camilla Parker Bowles, with Judy Kaye as Queen Elizabeth II.
Diana was in previews at the Longacre Theatre in New York when Broadway shut down in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The musical will now open on Broadway in November.
The Netflix special was filmed in 2020 at the Longacre Theatre without an audience. It will premiere Oct. 1 on Netflix.
Elsewhere, Kristen Stewart will play Princess Diana in the new film Spencer, which released a new teaser in August.
