Trainers explore a vast open world in new 'Pokemon Legends: Arceus' trailer

Aug. 18 (UPI) -- The Pokemon Company has announced new details and released new trailers for upcoming video games Pokemon Legends: Arceus, Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl.

Pokemon trainers explore a vast open world in the clip for Pokemon: Legends: Arceus, which is coming to the Nintendo Switch on Jan. 28.

Players will go back in time to an era when humans and Pokemon lived separately as they are tasked with completing the Sinnoh region's first Pokedex.

Pokemon Rowlet, Cyndaquil or Oshawott can be selected at the start of the journey. The trailer also highlighted a new battle system and the rough terrain that will have to be crossed with the help of Pokemon.

The battle system will include different style options to use including strong or agile styles. The different styles can change how battles play out and how attacks will be used.

The new trailer for Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl highlighted changes coming to the remakes such as the ability to customize a trainer's outfit or Poke Balls. Special animations and visual effects can also be added to Pokemon as they enter into a battle.

The remakes will maintain the minigames, underground section and secret base from the original games. A special edition Nintendo Switch Lite console featuring Dialga and Palkia will also be released.

Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Pokemon Shining Pearl is coming to Nintendo Switch on Nov. 19. The games are remakes of Pokemon Diamond and Pokemon Pearl from 2006, when it was originally released for the Nintendo DS.
