June 17 (UPI) -- Netflix has announced that Will Smith with host and star in an upcoming variety comedy special that will be released globally later this year.

The hour-long special will include celebrity guests, comedic sketches, musical performances, noteworthy conversation and more, Netflix said on Twitter.

Smith's Westbrook Studios is producing the project with the actor also serving as an executive producer. Terence Carter, Miguel Melendez and Sahara Bushue are also executive producing.

This will mark Smith's first-ever variety comedy special.

Smith is also executive producing Bel-Air, a dramatic re-imagining of his 1990s sitcom The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air for Peacock, and will star in director Antonine Fuqua's Emancipation.

Smith and Fuqua announced in April that they have pulled Emancipation from filming in Georgia, citing the state's recent voting law. Smith stars in the film as a slave from a Southern plantation who emancipates himself and joins the Union army during the Civil War.
