WWE NXT TakeOver: Karrion Kross survives, LA Knight wins big

June 14 (UPI) -- Karrion Kross defied the odds and survived a highly-competitive Fatal 5-Way match to retain his NXT Championship at WWE NXT TakeOver: In Your House.

Kross defended his title on Sunday against some of NXT's greatest competitors including Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly, Pete Dunne and Johnny Gargano.

The show was styled after WWE's classic In Your House pay-per-view events from the 1990s with the entrance ramp resembling the front of a house.

Kross was momentarily taken out of the match by Dunne and Gargano as they teamed up to push Kross through the front door, which was a part of the stage set. The champ would return with a vengeance and delivered a Tornado F-5 to Gargano.

Bitter rivals Cole and O'Reilly even briefly worked together to slam cross through onto the announcer's table. O'Reilly was later able to lock in a submission hold on Cole before Kross then applied the Kross Jacket to O'Reilly.

Kross was able to make O'Reilly pass out, giving him the victory.

Also at TakeOver: In Your House, Cameron Grimes and LA Knight faced off in a Ladder match for Ted DiBiase's Million Dollar Championship.

The title was created by DiBiase in 1989 and awarded it to himself after he was unable to become WWE Champion. The iconic title features dollar signs and was never formally recognized by WWE.

Grimes and Knight used ladders as weapons during the bout with Grimes sending his opponent crashing into one with a German Suplex. Knight later got revenge by sending Grimes into a ladder with a Neckbreaker.

Knight later prevented Grimes from winning the match by tipping over the ladder as Grimes reached for the Million Dollar Championship. Knight then climbed it and himself and grabbed the title to win the match. Knight will now carry on the legacy of DiBiase, famously known as The Million Dollar Man.

Raquel Gonzalez defended her NXT Women's Championship against Ember Moon and was accompanied to the ring by her tag team partner, Dakota Kai.

Kai helped Gonzalez throughout the match and saved her from certain defeat after Moon landed the Eclipse. Kai placed Gonzalez's foot on the rope to break up Moon's pinning attempt.

The incident signaled the arrival of Moon's tag team partner Shotzi Blackheart who returned to attack Kai and send her out of the arena.

Gonzalez, however, recovered from the Eclipse and stopped a second one before delivering the Chingona Bomb to win the match and remain NXT Women's Champion.

Other moments from NXT TakeOver: In Your House included North American Champion Bronson Reed and NXT Tag Team Champions MSK defeating Legado del Fantasma in a Winners Take All match and Xia Li defeating Mercedes Martinez.
