June 7 (UPI) -- Tony Award-winning actress Phylicia Rashad is set to star in the Broadway play, Skeleton Crew, this winter, the Manhattan Theatre Club said Monday.
The drama was written by Dominique Morrisseau and is to be directed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson.
"In 2008 Detroit, a small automotive factory is on the brink of foreclosure, and a tightknit family of workers hangs in the balance," a synopsis said.
"With uncertainty everywhere, the line between blue collar and white collar becomes blurred, and this working family must reckon with their personal loyalties, their instincts for survival and their ultimate hopes for humanity."
Preview performances are to begin Dec. 21 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, with an opening night planned for Jan. 12.
Rashad, 72, is known for her screen roles include The Cosby Show, A Fall From Grace, Creed, Creed II, For Colored Girls, Soul, Jingle Jangle, Black Box, This is Us, David Makes Man and Empire.
Her stage credits include A Raisin in the Sun, Into the Woods, Jelly's Last Jam, Gem of the Ocean and Cat on a Hot Tin Roof.
