Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Natalie Portman donned a black cape to the Oscars featuring the names of female directors who were not nominated. The names appeared on the side of the cape in gold lettering.
The names featured included Greta Gerwig (Little Women), Lulu Wang (The Farewell) and Lorene Scafaria (Hustlers), among others.
"I wanted to recognize the women who were not recognized for their incredible work this year in my subtle way," Portman said Sunday.
Bong Joon-ho (Parasite), Sam Mendes (1917), Todd Phillips (Joker), Martin Scorsese (The Irishman) and Quentin Tarantino (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) were nominated for Best Director at the ceremony, with Joon-ho winning.
Portman, at the 2018 Golden Globes, announced the winner of Best Director by stating, "here are the all-male nominees."
