Dec. 5 (UPI) -- Taylor Swift: Miss Americana, a documentary about singer Taylor Swift, is coming to Netflix in 2020.
Netflix shared plans Wednesday for the "raw and emotionally revealing" film about Swift, 29, directed by Lana Wilson.
Miss Americana will follow Swift "as she learns to embrace her role not only as a songwriter and performer, but as a woman harnessing the full power of her voice," according to a tweet from Netflix.
The new documentary is a Tremolo production. Morgan Neville (Won't You Be My Neighbor?), Caitrin Rogers (20 Feet from Stardom) and Christine O'Malley (Wordplay) served as producers.
Miss Americana will debut Jan. 23 at the Sundance Film Festival and premiere on Netflix in early 2020.
News of the documentary comes amid Swift's conflict with Big Machine Label Group founder Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun over ownership rights to her old music. Swift slammed Borchetta and Braun on Twitter in November for allegedly blocking her from performing her old songs at the American Music Awards and using them in the Netflix film.
"Netflix has created a documentary about my life for the past few years. Scott and Scooter have declined the use of my older music or performance footage for this project, even though there is no mention of either of them or Big Machine Records anywhere in the film," Swift said.
Swift's struggle shines a spotlight on music ownership rights in the industry.
Swift released her seventh studio album, Lover, in August. She is nominated for three Grammy Awards, including Best Pop Vocal Album, at the 2020 ceremony.
