WWE Starrcade: Rusev gets revenge on Bobby Lashley

By Wade Sheridan

Dec. 2 (UPI) -- Rusev was able to get revenge on Bobby Lashley for having an affair with his estranged wife Lana during a special presentation of WWE Starrcade.

Rusev, on Sunday, was originally scheduled to face Lashley in a Last Man Standing Match. Lana explained to the audience, however, that she had filed a restraining order on Rusev, preventing him from competing against Lashley.

Lashley was deemed the winner of the match by default. This caused Kevin Owens to call out Lashley which led to the pair having a match against each other. Lashley wrestled with bandages around his stomach after Rusev had attacked him on Raw.

Rusev defied the restraining order and attacked Lashley, ending the bout with Owens. Rusev got his revenge by using a kendo stick and then later a steel chair. Rusev, before running out of the arena, kicked Lashley in the face as Lashley was holding the steel chair.

Owens had kicked off the event earlier with a new edition of The Kevin Owens Show featuring living legend Ric Flair as the special guest.

Flair spoke about the history of Starrcade and paid homage to other professional wrestling legends such as the late Dusty Rhodes who created the event.

The O.C.'s Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson interrupted Flair which then led to an impromptu match against The Street Profits.

The Street Profits won the bout and celebrated in the ring with Flair afterwards.

Starrcade also featured The Kabuki Warriors defending their Women's Tag Team Championships against Raw Women's Champion Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair; Smackdown Women's Champion Bayley and Sasha Banks; and Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross in a Fatal 4-Way Match.

The highly-competitive match ended when Nikki Cross attempted to pin Asuka of The Kabuki Warriors. Asuka quickly responded with the Asuka Lock, forcing Cross to tap out.

Starrcade featured other matches that were not broadcasted on the WWE Network. They included Seth Rollins defeating Erick Rowan; Shinsuke Nakamura successfully defending his Intercontinental Championship against The Miz; Randy Orton defeating AJ Styles; Aleister Black defeating Andrade; Ricochet defeating Andrade; Roman Reigns defeating King Corbin; and The Fiend Bray Wyatt successfully defending his Universal Championship against Braun Strowman in a Steel Cage Match.
