People magazine also confirmed Morrison's death through her publicist Lori DeWaal.

"Shelley's greatest pride as an actress was in playing the indomitable Rosario in a comedy series that furthered the cause of social equity and fairness for LGBTQ people," Dominguez said. "She also took pride in portraying a strong, loving yet feisty Latina character."

Morrison appeared as Rosario on 68 episodes of Will & Grace, from 1999 to 2006. Rosario was the maid and confidant of Megan Mullally's Karen Walker who would stand up to her boss.

She did not take part in the Will & Grace revival which will be coming to a close with a final season in early 2020.

Morrison also starred as Sister Sixto on The Flying Nun and also made appearances on Murder She Wrote, L.A. Law, Home Improvement and Columbo.

Mullally paid homage to Morrison on Instagram alongside a photo of the actress.

"She was such an integral and important part of my experience at Will & Grace, and became a friend in the intervening years. She was loving, strong, supportive and kind. She and her husband Walter Dominguez had a wonderful, loving and inspiring 46-year marriage," Mullally said.

"He was always by her side. Please put him and their children and grandchildren in your thoughts. I will miss you, Shelley. Thank you for the years of partnership and for your friendship and support. Te amo, mami," she continued.
