Aug. 7 (UPI) -- A photo portrait of Beyonce, which was used for the cover of Vogue in September, is heading to the Smithsonian's National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C.

The National Portrait Gallery features photos, paintings and sculptures of America's most prominent figures, including presidents and celebrities.

Photographer Tyler Mitchell snapped the photo and confirmed the news on Instagram Tuesday next to the image.

"A year ago today we broke the flood gates open. Since then it was important to spend the whole year running through them making sure every piece of the gate was knocked down," he said.

"And now I'm glad to share this picture is being acquired into the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery's permanent collection."

"We're just so crazy in love with her that we had to do it! We look forward to adding this new work to our collection," the official Twitter account for the National Portrait Gallery said.
