May 24 (UPI) -- Billie Lourd says she "really" digs May the Fourth, aka Star Wars Day.

The 26-year-old actress said during Thursday's episode of Watch What Happens Live she supports the unofficial holiday, which celebrates the Star Wars universe.

Star Wars Day falls every May 4, chosen for its ability to pun on the Star Wars line "May the Force be with you" as "May the Fourth be with you." Fans celebrate by watching Star Wars films or attending various events around the globe.

Lourd is the daughter of late Star Wars actress Carrie Fisher, who played Princess Leia. She herself portrays Lieutenant Connix in the new Star Wars trilogy.

"I kinda dig it. I really dig it," Lourd said of May the Fourth. "I love Star Wars -- I hated it as a child, but now I'm super into it."

Lourd explained her former distaste for Star Wars, likening it to a sibling rivalry.

"She was a really loud sibling that was always shooting guns and being annoying. Literally, my mom said I would always cover my ears and say 'This is too loud,'" she recalled.

"I purposely had written her character in scenes without Carrie, because I just didn't want it to be uncomfortable for her," Abrams said of Lourd. "[Lourd told me,] 'I want to be in scenes with her. I want it for my children when I have kids. I want them to see.'"

"She would get emotional and sort of have to excuse herself for a minute," he added of filming. "I know it was hard for her for a while."
