Dec. 19 (UPI) -- Leslie Grossman says Amanda Bynes is "doing fantastic" as she steps back into the spotlight.
The 47-year-old actress gave an update on Bynes, her friend and former What I Like About You co-star, during Tuesday's episode of Busy Tonight with Busy Philipps.
"I met her when she was 16 years old," Grossman recalled. "You don't know what you're gonna get when you meet a young star of a show; it could be a nightmare. From the get-go, [she was] the sweetest, the funniest [and] the most hardworking."
"She's doing fantastic, she really is," she told Philipps. "She's very eager to get back into acting, which I think she'll have no problem with. I think everybody wants to see her."
In addition to acting, Grossman said Bynes remains focused on fashion design. Bynes received her associate degree from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in November.
"She's also still really committed to doing fashion -- she's done so well. She's doing wonderfully," Grossman said. "I'm very, very proud of her. She's doing great."
Bynes had voiced interest in returning to acting in an interview with Paper published last month. She told the magazine her drug use led to her "bizarre" behavior of years past and retreat from public life.
"I'm really ashamed and embarrassed with the things I said. I can't turn back time but if I could, I would," the 32-year-old actress said.
"Everybody is different, obviously, but for me, the mixture of marijuana and whatever other drugs and sometimes drinking really messed up my brain. It made me a completely different person," she added.
