"Effective immediately, Michelle T. Williams has been advised by her doctors to take a leave of absence from performing," the show said in a statement Wednesday, according to People.

Williams debuted as the goddess Erzulie in Once On This Island on Nov. 30. Cassondra James will replace Williams in the role through Dec. 26 before Lea Salonga takes over until the musical closes Jan. 6.

News of Williams' departure follows word of her split from her fiancé, pastor Chad Johnson. Williams said in a since-deleted post last week that she and Johnson had called it quits.

"I still remain fearless," the star said. "I guess I remain single! Things didn't work out."

"The healing that needs to take place is a must! I don't wanna destroy another relationship. Blessings to him, his family and ministry. #FEARLESS," she added.
