Nick Jonas wanted to marry Priyanka Chopra after third date

Nov. 30 (UPI) -- Nick Jonas knew he would marry his fiancée, Priyanka Chopra, after their third date.

The 26-year-old singer and 36-year-old actress recalled their early romance and Jonas' proposal in the January issue of Vogue ahead of their wedding.

Jonas and Chopra first met at the 2017 Vanity Fair Oscar party. The pair exchanged flirty texts for months before meeting for a drink and going back to Chopra's apartment ahead of the 2017 Met Gala.

"We hung out for a couple of hours," the actress recalled. "He patted my back before he left."

"There was no kiss. There was nothing," Jonas said.

Jonas and Chopra went a year before reconnecting at the 2018 Met Gala in May. Jonas told his mom he was going to marry Chopra after attending a Los Angeles Dodgers game with the actress.

"This is date three," Chopra said.

Jonas proposed to the former Quantico star in July during a vacation in Crete.

"I got down on one knee," the singer recounted. "I said: Will you make me the happiest man in the world and marry me?"

"No joke -- she took about 45 seconds. Forty-five seconds of silence," he said of Chopra's reaction. "I'm going to put this ring on your finger now unless you have any objections."

Jonas and Chopra are expected to marry over the weekend at a palace in Rajasthan, India. The couple partied with family and friends, including Jonas' brother Joe Jonas and his fiancée, Sophie Turner, Monday in Mumbai.
