Gabrielle Union details daughter Kaavia James' name

Nov. 19 (UPI) -- Gabrielle Union is sharing new details about daughter Kaavia James' name.

The 46-year-old actress posted a pronunciation, nicknames and the meaning behind her baby girl's name Saturday on Instagram after welcoming the infant with her husband, NBA star Dwyane Wade.

"@kaaviajames pronounced Kah-Vee-Uh James," Union captioned a photo with her daughter. "She had 102 nicknames including but not limited to Kaav, Kaavi, Kaavi Baby, Kaavi J, Jamie, KJ, Nugget, Nug, Pooters."

"We wanted to include my family in her name so the 'James' is from my uncle James Francis Glass who is also my godfather. Union is her middle name. I've waited this long so fo sho I was gonna get in there," she wrote.

The Being Mary Jane alum also shared a photo Friday of Wade sharing a sweet moment with Kaavia in bed. Wade is on paternity leave from the Miami Heat to be with his family.

"Cute dad x baby feet = Perfect Friday Night @kaaviajames #paternityleave," Union captioned the picture.

Union and Wade welcomed Kaavia via surrogate this month. Union struggled to conceive via in vitro fertilization, which she detailed in her book, We're Going to Need More Wine.

"I have had eight or nine miscarriages," the star wrote. "[We] remain bursting with love and ready to do anything to meet the child we've both dreamed of."
