Douglas' wife, actress Catherine Zeta-Jones, father Kirk Douglas and son Cameron Douglas attended the ceremony. Kirk, an actor known for Spartacus and other classic films, received his own star in 1960.

"Michael Douglas is what legends are made of. He joins his legendary actor/father Kirk Douglas whose star and Michael's will forever shine just a few feet from one another," Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez said in a statement.

"We have been patiently waiting for Michael Douglas to unveil his stellar award since he was selected in 2003 and are so excited to finally honor this Hollywood royal with a star on our historic Hollywood Walk of Fame," she added.

Jane Fonda, Eric McCormack, Andy Garcia and Douglas' former agent Ron Meyer were also present at the event. Douglas honored Zeta-Jones and Kirk in a speech to the audience.

"[The] love of my life is here," the actor said, according to People. "I'm talking about Catherine. I'm grateful for your support and your love and your patience."

"My dad is here. In a month, Kirk will be 102 years old!" he added. "It means so much to me, Dad, that you're here today. Thank you for your advice, inspiration and I'll say it simply and with all my heart: I'm so proud to be your son."

Zeta-Jones had shared a sweet video with Douglas as they made their way to the ceremony. The couple will celebrate their 18th wedding anniversary in December.

"On our way to the Hollywood walk of fame ceremony. My hubby is getting his star to go along with his hands and feet! Hooray for Hollywood," Zeta-Jones captioned the post on Instagram.

Douglas is parent to Cameron with Diandra Luker and to son Dylan and daughter Carys with Zeta-Jones. He is known for such films as Fatal Attraction, Wall Street, Basic Instinct, Behind the Candelabra and Ant-Man.
