Aug. 17 (UPI) -- A spokesperson for Aretha Franklin said Friday her family will hold a two-day public viewing of the legendary singer before her funeral at Greater Grace Temple in Detroit.
The spokesperson told the Detroit Free Press the viewing was scheduled for Aug. 28-29 at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History. She will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day.
A private funeral for family members is slated to take place 10 a.m. on Aug. 31 before her interment Woodlawn Cemetery, where her father, noted civil rights activist the Rev. C.L. Franklin, and other family members are buried.
Family sources told TMZ the viewing will be open casket.
