Rey Mysterio returns as a playable character in 'WWE 2K19'

June 26 (UPI) -- Legendary high-flying professional wrestler Rey Mysterio is back as a playable character in publisher 2K Sports upcoming video game, WWE 2K19.

A teaser trailer for Mysterio's inclusion in the game was released Monday night during WWE's broadcast of Raw and features a number of superstars including Daniel Bryan, Jeff Hardy, The Miz, Bobby Roode, Asuka, Bobby Lashley, Charlotte Flair and AJ Styles sharing how they would describe the former three-time World Champion.

"Back," Mysterio says to describe himself as he dons a new mask that is branded with the WWE 2K19 logo.

Mysterio, nicknamed The Ultimate Underdog during his time in WWE, is known for his acrobatic skill and ability to topple opponents of any size despite his smaller height. He was last seen in a WWE ring competing in the Royal Rumble in January and then in The Greatest Royal Rumble in April.

Mysterio will be available in WWE 2K19 for those who pre-order the title which is set for release on Oct. 9 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Styles, the current WWE Champion, is featured on the cover of the game.

Mysterio is the latest WWE alum to make a return through the video game series following The Ultimate Warrior, Sting, Goldberg and Kurt Angle in previous years. Each competitor made appearances on WWE programming after being announced for the video game.
