June 21 (UPI) -- Victoria Beckham says she tries "really hard" to be "the best" wife and mother.

The 44-year-old designer and former Spice Girls singer discussed her family Tuesday at the Forbes Women's Summit in New York following rumors she and husband David Beckham plan to divorce.

"I try really, really hard. I try hardest to be the best mother," Beckham said, according to Hello!

"I am trying to be the best wife and the best professional. When I get home I try to put the phone down and spend time with the children and spend time with David," she added.

Beckham is parent to 19-year-old son Brooklyn, 15-year-old son Romeo, 13-year-old son Cruz and 6-year-old daughter Harper with David, and praised the 43-year-old retired soccer star in her speech.

"I have the support of an incredible husband," she said. "We really are equal with everything we do at home with the children. When I'm away, he's the one doing the school run and doing the cooking."

Beckham, who launched her Victoria Beckham fashion label in 2008, said David's support has contributed to her success in business.
