Bindi's mom, Terri Irwin, responded to the star's message on Twitter.

"More than anything, he loved being your dad," she wrote.

Stever Irwin died at age 44 in September 2006 after being pierced by a stingray barb. He was also dad to Bindi's brother, Robert Irwin, and had been married to Terri for 14 years at the time of his death.

Bindi Irwin paid tribute to her father in April following a Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in his honor.

"It's been over 10 years now, and the grief is always going to be there, but I think now, it's moving forward and remembering everything Dad worked so hard for," she told Entertainment Tonight.

"This is celebrating of his life and it's always going to be emotional, but I think these are just happy and proud tears. We miss him so much," she added.
