Deadline.com said the late musician appeared in the 1980 movie Blues Brothers and its 1998 sequel Blues Brothers 2000.

He also played in the Blues Brothers Band with the late John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd when the group performed "Soul Man" during a Saturday Night Live sketch in 1978. He stayed with the touring band - which had rotating artists and musicians -- until 2002 when he had a stroke and semi-retired, Rolling Stone said.
