May 30 (UPI) -- Publisher Bethesda Softworks has officially announced the next entry in its best-selling post apocalyptic game series, Fallout, titled Fallout 76.

A cinematic teaser trailer for Fallout 76 was released Wednesday that explored an empty, well-equipped vault that was littered with confetti in celebration of an event known as Reclamation Day.

The vaults in the Fallout series are large bomb shelter's and living areas that were designed to protect large groups of people from the threat of a nuclear holocaust. The majority of the vaults, however, are discovered to have been used by the government to conduct experiments on its inhabitants.

The Fallout 76 title refers to the numbered vault that is featured in the trailer. A character donning a blue vault suit that equips a Pip-Boy also makes an appearance.

Fallout 76, announced for the Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC, will be an online game of some kind, Kotaku reported.

Bethesda will announce more details about the game at the company's upcoming E3 press conference scheduled for June 10 at 6:30 p.m. PDT.
