May 4 (UPI) -- Marvel's Black Panther leads nominations for the 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards, with nods in seven categories. The superhero film released in February, received two nominations for its lead star Chadwick Boseman, including Best Performance in a Movie and Best Hero.

It is also nominated for Best Villain, Best On-Screen Team, Scene Stealer, Best Fight and Best Movie, where it will contend with Avengers: Infinity War, Girls Trip, It and Wonder Woman.
Horror film It earned three other nominations, as well: Best Villain, Most Frightened Performance and Best On-Screen Team.
Girls Trip, Avengers: Infinity War, Wonder Woman and Star Wars: The Last Jedi earned three nominations each.
In the television categories, Stranger Things dominated with six nominations: Best Performance in a Show for lead star Millie Bobby Brown, Best Kiss, Most Frightened Performance, Best On-Screen Team, Scene Stealer and Best Show, where it is up against 13 Reasons Why, Game of Thrones, grown-ish and Riverdale.
Riverdale and Game of Thrones each earned three nominations.
The 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards will be hosted by Tiffany Haddish and will air June 18, at 9 p.m. ET. from the Barker Hangar in Los Angeles.
Polls are open for fans to vote for their favorites in each category.
