Hillbilly Jim to be inducted into WWE Hall of Fame

March 6 (UPI) -- Former WWE Superstar and manager Hillbilly Jim will be inducted into the Hall of Fame class of 2018 during WrestleMania 34 Week on April 6.

Hillbilly Jim began his WWE career in 1984 as an audience member who was trained to become a wrestler by Hulk Hogan after he rescued the legend from an attack by Ken Patera, Big John Studd and Bobby 'The Brain' Heenan.

Hillbilly Jim was a fan-favorite country boy who was known for his big smile, wearing overalls and a lucky horseshoe around his neck to the ring, and his signature beard. He enjoyed a rivalry with King Kong Bundy who he met at WrestleMania 3 as part of a Six-Man Tag Team Match.

Mudlick, Ky.'s Favorite Son also introduced his extended family to the WWE including Uncle Elmer, Cousin Junior and Cousin Luke and acted as a manger to his cousins, former World Tag Team Champions Henry and Phineas Godwinn.

Hillbilly Jim would co-host Prime Time Wrestling and made appearances in Hulk Hogan's Rock 'n' Wrestling cartoon series. He competed in the Gimmick Battle Royal at WrestleMania 17 in 2001 and portrayed himself in WWE Network reality show, Legends House.

"I didn't have that on my mind whatsoever," Hillbilly Jim, real name, James Morris said to Bleacher Report about being selected for the Hall of Fame. "For a moment or two, I was knocked back on my heels. Basically, I was speechless. It was a whole lot for me to digest quickly."

The WWE Hall of Fame class of 2018, which also includes Jeff Jarrett, Ivory, Goldberg, tag team The Dudley Boyz and Warrior Award recipient Jarrius 'JJ' Robertson, will be inducted April 6 at the Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.
