Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Sean 'Diddy' Combs has announced that he is no longer changing his name to Love or Brother Love and blamed the initial decision to change his name on drinking too much.

"I had a couple drinks, I was feeling good, it's my birthday," the rap mogul said while speaking with TMZ about the video released on social media Saturday where he first brought up the new Love name.

"So I introduced the world to one of my alter ego's which is love," Combs continued. "But I'm not changing my name. It's already too confusing. It's just something that I added."

Recently, Combs took to Instagram to address fans about the name change writing alongside a video, "I see you can't play with the internet."

"Due to the overwhelming response from the media out there, and just due to there not wanting to be any confusion... I was only joking, OK," Combs says in the clip.

Combs has gone by many names throughout his career including Puff Daddy, Puffy, P. Diddy and Diddy.
