Nov. 4 (UPI) -- Longmire and Young Guns actor Lou Diamond Phillips was arrested this week for allegedly driving while intoxicated in Texas.

Phillips was taken to the San Patricio County County Jail early Friday morning and released hours later after he posted a $2,500 bond.

The 55-year-old actor spoke as planned at a Voices of South Texas event in Corpus Christi on Friday night.

"First thing's first, I want to sincerely apologize for an incident this morning. Some of you may have heard about that," WUSA-9 quoted Phillips as saying.

"It was a lapse in judgment. Obviously, I did not think I was in that state because I approached the cop. I thought I was fine. He thought otherwise," Phillips added. "It was a mistake. It was stupid of me. I regret it and it will never happen again."

TMZ said Phillips was driving in Portland when he approached a police officer and asked for directions.

The officer suspected the actor was intoxicated and conducted a field sobriety test, which Phillips allegedly failed.
