Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Triple H shocked fans in Glasgow, Scotland Wednesday when he teamed up with The Shield during a non-televised WWE live event.
"Desperate times call for desperate measures," Rollins said of The Shield's need of a third member as Roman Reigns continues to recover from an illness. "And if there's one trick I have learned in the last few years, it's always have a Plan B."
Before the match started, Triple H, also the COO of the company, was presented with a black SWAT uniform to match his teammates and effectively become an honorary member of The Shield. The trio then went on to defeat their opponents by delivering a Triple Power Bomb to Cesaro.
Afterwards, Triple H joined with Rollins and Ambrose for the group's signature Shield fist bump.
Notably, Rollins' "Plan B" line is a reference to the night The Architect betrayed the Shield and joined with Triple H back when The Hounds of Justice first broke up in June 2014. Rollins would go on to become Triple H's protege before breaking ties the King of Kings resulting in a match at WrestleMania 33 that Rollins won, giving him the new nickname of Kingslayer.
Triple H last made headlines in October after he danced with Smackdown tag team The New Day in the middle of the ring during a WWE live event in Santiago, Chile.
This marks the second time The Shield needed someone to replace Reigns as they recruited Raw general manager Kurt Angle to take on the likes of Intercontinental Champion The Miz, Sheamus, Cesaro, Braun Strowman and Kane at TLC.
