Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Mr. Wonderful and The Sopranos actress Annabella Sciorra says disgraced movie mogul Harvey Weinstein raped her in her apartment more than 20 years ago.
Sciorra told The New Yorker magazine Weinstein showed up at her door after dropping her off earlier in the evening, then pushed his way into her apartment, held her down on her bed and forcibly had sex with her.
The actress said she fought Weinstein to no avail and was so ashamed she couldn't stop the alleged attack she didn't immediately tell anyone after it happened.
Sciorra admitted she denied she was one of Weinstein's alleged victims when The New Yorker first contacted her and said she ultimately decided to open up about her experience after dozens of other women came forward to allege Weinstein had sexually harassed or abused them, as well.
"Now when I go to a restaurant or to an event, people are going to know that this happened to me," Sciorra said. "They're gonna look at me and they're gonna know. I'm an intensely private person, and this is the most unprivate thing you can do."
Weinstein, 65, has been seeking help for sex addiction and behavioral issues in recent weeks. Although he has emphatically denied engaging in any non-consensual sexual activity with his accusers, he has been roundly condemned by Hollywood's top celebrities, the studio he co-founded has ousted him and his wife has left him.
