'Jane the Virgin' star Justin Baldoni welcomes son

Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Jane the Virgin star Justin Baldoni recently welcomed a baby boy.

The 33-year-old actor introduced son Maxwell Roland-Samuel in an Instagram post Sunday after wife Emily Baldoni gave birth to the infant Oct. 18.

"HE. IS. HERE! Our little Maxwell Roland-Samuel Baldoni came into this world on Wednesday and showed us that it was possible for our hearts to double in size ...again," Baldoni captioned a photo of Emily with their son.

"We want to thank everyone for all the love and prayers. We are so grateful," he added. "So much more to come."

Baldoni, who also shares 2-year-old daughter Maiya Grace with Emily, followed up Monday with a picture of himself with Maxwell and a Baha'i prayer written by Abdu'l-Baha.

"'O My Lord! O my Lord! I am a child of tender years. Nourish me from the breast of Thy mercy, train me in the bosom of Thy love," the prayer begins.

Baldoni and Emily married in Corona, Calif., in July 2013 after more than a year of dating. The actor made headlines in June after a photo of himself and his dad watching Maiya throw a temper tantrum in Whole Foods went viral.

"There are no perfect parents, but one thing my dad taught me is to not parent based on what anyone else thinks," Baldoni captioned the picture. "My dad always let me feel what I need to feel, even if it was in public and embarrassing. I don't remember him ever saying 'You're embarrassing me!' or 'Dont cry!' It wasn't until recently that I realized how paramount that was for my own emotional development."

"I try to remember to make sure my daughter knows it's OK that she feels deeply. It's not embarrassing to me when she throw tantrums in the grocery store, or screams on a plane. I'm her dad...not yours. Let's not be embarrassed for our children," he encouraged.

Baldoni plays Rafael Solano on Jane the Virgin, which returned this month for a fourth season on The CW. The series co-stars Gina Rodriguez, Andrea Navedo and Yael Grobglas.
