'Glee' alum Matthew Morrison welcomes baby boy

Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Former Glee star Matthew Morrison recently welcomed a baby boy.

The 38-year-old actor announced in an Instagram post Sunday that wife Renee Morrison gave birth to their first child, son Revel James Makai.

"To my Newborn Child, Revel James Makai Morrison: Your Mama and Papa got this!!" Morrison captioned a photo of himself fist bumping the infant. "Trust in us to guide and protect you always. To lay the tracks so your choo choo train will run smoothly throughout this world. You will have all the tools to soar!"

"We love you, and are so thankful for your arrival!" he gushed. "The adventures are just beginning... [photo by]: @isaaccohenphotography."

Renee, née Renee Puente, an actress who appeared in Divergent, also shared the news on her own account.

"I'm in Revel Heaven... my heaven on earth... to give you life, to hold you in my arms, to comfort you, to feed you from my body.. I can't begin to express my immeasurable gratitude for being the one you chose as your Mama!" the new mom captioned a picture of her son.

"My Revel James Makai Morrison, I promise to cherish you, to constantly remind you that you are worthy of love and belonging, to teach you compassion and kindness," she vowed. "I will respect you and go through every moment with understanding and patience.. I promise to love you unconditionally for ever and ever my little angel baby."

Morrison and Renee married in October 2014 in Maui, Hawaii, after three years of dating. The actor announced Renee's pregnancy in an interview with People published in May.

"I'm so excited to meet our child and to see what he or she looks like, and to see what features of my beautiful wife that he or she has," he said. "I can't wait to share experiences and watch life through my kid's eyes."

Morrison is known for playing Will Schuester on Glee, and has since appeared on The Good Wife, Younger and Grey's Anatomy. He will next star in the movie Broadway 4D with Hugh Jackman and Christina Aguilera.
