'Dragon Ball Fighterz' game receives January release date

Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Publisher Bandai Namco announced Monday on Twitter that its upcoming fighting game Dragon Ball Fighterz, will be arriving on Jan. 26 for the Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC.

The announcement was posted alongside box art for the title that features main Dragon Ball protagonist Goku flying forward while in his Super Saiyan form.

Bandai Namco also noted that a character pass will be on sale for Dragon Ball FighterZ that will offer players eight additional characters to use in the game as downloadable content for $35.

Dragon Ball FighterZ, first unveiled in June at E3, features a flashy 2D art style that captures the look and feel of the long-running anime.

Characters such as Vegeta, Gohan, Future Trunks, Piccolo, Frieza, Cell, Majin Buu, Krillin, Tien, Yamcha and Android's 16 and 18 are among the playable characters in addition to Goku.

Captain Ginyu and Vegeta's former partner Nappa were recently announced to be joining the roster.
