'Y&R' star Kristoff St. John hospitalized after allegedly threatening suicide

Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Soap opera star Kristoff St. John is hospitalized for a 72-hour psychiatric evaluation after allegedly threatening to shoot himself.

TMZ cited unnamed law-enforcement sources as saying St. John's ex-wife Mia contacted police Thursday night to report The Young and the Restless actor had been texting her photos of him holding a gun to his head. 

The alleged incident comes nearly two years after their son Julian's suicide at the age of 24, following a long battle with mental illness.

St. John's most recent message on Twitter was a request that his followers share posts from Mia and celebrity psychiatrist Dr. Drew Pinsky regarding mental illness and homelessness.
