Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Television personality Dr. Phil McGraw struck skateboarder Terrence Bembury with his car and now the man is threatening to sue him.

Police told E! News the "minor traffic collision" happened in a crosswalk in California's Universal City Friday morning.

No one was transported to a hospital.

McGraw's representative said Sunday McGraw "talked with the gentleman at the time of the mishap and was assured by him that he was fine."

"If there are any outstanding questions from the LAPD, he will, of course, be glad to answer them and believes he was operating within the law," the spokesperson said.

However, TMZ reported Bembury has indicated on social media he plans to sue McGraw over the incident, stating he plans to meet with his lawyer Monday.

"He never got out of the car, checked too see if I was injured, didn't even ask for my name," Bembury wrote in an online post.

But police have backed up McGraw's account and said Bembury first told them he assured McGraw he was fine and only later changed his story to say he was not.

The reports did not say if McGraw was or would be issued any tickets.
