WWE signs female talents Kavita Devi, Shadia Bseiso

Oct. 17 (UPI) -- WWE has signed the first female talents from India and the Middle East, Kavita Devi and Shadia Bseiso respectively, to developmental contracts.

Devi, a powerlifter who won the gold medal while representing her country at the 2016 South Asian Games, was recently featured in WWE's Mas Young Classic women's tournament where she became the first Indian woman to compete in the company.

"Participating in the Mae Young Classic with some of the best female performers in the world was a great learning experience. Now I am looking forward to pursuing my dream of becoming the first WWE Women's Champion from India," Devi said in a statement.

Devi received training from former World Heavyweight Champion The Great Khali and is expected to report to WWE's Performance Center in Orlando in January.

"I'm extremely proud to welcome Kavita to WWE where she now has a great opportunity to become India's first female WWE Superstar. She is an inspiration to the youth of India and I wish nothing but success for her," said current WWE Champion Jinder Mahal of Devi while speaking with The Times of India.

Mahal's henchmen The Singh Brothers, also wished Devi good luck on Twitter alongside a group photo writing, "If India needed a strong female role model, meet @KavitaDeviWWE."

Bseiso, who hails from Jordan, is trained in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and is a known CrossFit enthusiast who impressed WWE officials during an invitation-only tryout in Dubai. She is also expected to arrive at the Performance Center in January.

"It is an honor to be the first-ever woman from the Middle East to sign with WWE," Bseiso said in a statement. "I have visited the Performance Center and attended the Mae Young Classic. I have personally witnessed the power of WWE and the passion of WWE fans. I look forward to starting on my path to becoming a WWE Superstar."

Former WWE Superstar and now executive vice president, talent, live events and creative Triple H also commented on the signings stating, "Recruiting Kavita and Shadia to join our developmental system underscores WWE's ongoing commitment to building a talent roster as diverse as our fan base."

"We're confident Kavita and Shadia will inspire future WWE Superstars as we continue to recruit the most talented athletes and entertainers from around the world," the former Heavyweight Champion continued.
