Oct. 4 (UPI) -- Superhero The Atom is the next playable character coming to developer NetherRealm Studios' DC Comics fighting game sequel, Injustice 2.

The trailer was released following the finale of The CW's Chasing the Cup: Injustice 2 series that featured a competitive tournament around the fighting game. The CW is home to a host of DC Comics dramas including Arrow, Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow which features actor Brandon Routh as The Atom.

Ryan Choi in the DC Comics world is the protege of Ray Palmer, the original Atom who has gone missing.

"Physics prodigy Ryan Choi took on the mantle of the Atom when his mentor - and original Atom -Ray Palmer mysteriously disappeared. Now armed with quantum shrinking technology, Ryan will use the subatomic power of the quantum bio-belt to seek out his lost friend and further the fight for justice," reads the synopsis for the trailer.
