Oct. 2 (UPI) -- NXT's Johnny Gargano has thanked developer 2K Sports for adding him to the roster of their upcoming video game, WWE 2K18.
Gargano, who shared an image of how he appears in the title, thanked 2K Sports and described in detail his history of playing WWE video games and how his spot on the 2K18 roster is a dream come true.
"I'd like to consider myself a pretty avid pro wrestling gamer," Gargano, also known as Johnny Wrestling, said after sharing how he began playing WWE video games with Royal Rumble for the Sega Saturn.
"My mind literally exploded when I found out Create A Wrestler was an option in Warzone in 1998," Gargano continued about how he would create himself inside the video games. "I poorly created myself myself every year...and when you could rip your own theme song off a CD to use for your character when RAW hit Xbox? ("Papercut" by Linkin Park was my choice.. it was 2002, guys) Talk about a game changer!"
"That's why I was SO pumped when I heard.. not only that I was actually going to be IN a video game (still doesn't seem real) but my new theme "Rebel Heart" actually made it in! A little thing like that being added at the last minute makes such a difference. Kudos 2K!" the former NXT Tag Team Champion concluded.
WWE 2K18, which features current Raw Tag Team Champion Seth Rollins on the cover, features in addition to NXT Superstars, WWE mainstays such as John Cena, Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, AJ Styles Shinsuke Nakamura and legends including Ric Flair, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Shawn Michaels, Sting and Jake The Snake Roberts among many others.
WWE Chairman and COO Vince McMahon will also be a playable character in the game in addition to Olympic gold medalist and current Raw general manager Kurt Angle who will become available to those who pre-order the game.
WWE 2K18 is set to launch for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One on Oct. 17.
