Sept. 27 (UPI) -- Justin Timberlake is reportedly nearing completion of a deal to perform at halftime of Super Bowl LII.

An insider told Us Weekly Timberlake, 36, "is finalizing" a deal to perform during the NFL championship game in Minneapolis on Feb. 4.

The potential performance comes 13 years after the former 'N Sync member's controversial Super Bowl performance, during which he exposed Janet Jackson's nipple.

Rapper Jay Z reportedly turned down the opportunity to perform at the Super Bowl, after his wife Beyonce performed at the event in 2013, according to The Source.

Some reports suggested Timberlake may perform alongside Jay Z at the event, but an insider said "as of right now, it will just be Justin - no surprise performers."
