Sept. 26 (UPI) -- Celebrity couple Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their first official public appearance together this week.

The 33-year-old British royal and 36-year-old American actress attended a Paralympic-style tennis match Monday at the Invictus Games in Toronto, Canada.

Prince Harry and Markle held hands as they arrived at the event, and were met with some applause as they took their seats, according to E! News. The prince wore an Invictus Games polo and jeans, with Markle in a white shirt and denim.

The Telegraph reported Prince Harry and Markle chatted with fellow fans, and were also seen talking closely and laughing together. The pair were casually affectionate, with Prince Harry kissing Markle's head at one point.

Olivia Kornal, whose stepdad competed in the match, told People it was "really amazing" to see Prince Harry and Markle enjoy the match and cheer on the contestants.

"They were watching the game and cheering on my stepdad," Kornal said. "They kept laughing because the contestants know each other, so there was banter between them -- they were laughing at that."

"The rules are different to normal tennis as well, so they were talking about that. Harry was explaining it to her," she added. "They were absolutely lovely, they asked me if I enjoyed the game and who I was cheering on."

Prince Harry and Markle were first linked in October 2016, and confirmed their relationship the next month. The actress said in the October issue of Vanity Fair that she and the prince "are really happy and in love."
