Sept. 23 (UPI) -- Eddie Alderson, who played Matthew Buchanan on One Life to Live as a child and teen, says he has begun a stem-cell transplant process to treat his Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
"I start my stem-cell transplant process today, and will be spending a few weeks in the hospital...this will not be easy, but no worries, I got this. I have one quote in my mind: 'Every battle is won before it is fought.' #WarriorMentality #NoSurrender #BringItOn," the 22-year-old actor captioned an Instagram photo of him sitting near a window.
"Anybody who is interested in my story and journey with cancer, pick up a copy and check it out," he wrote as he re-tweeted a post from Soap Opera Digest promoting an interview he gave them.
"I just kind of sat there and everything went quiet. My initial thought was: 'OK, let's just get on it. Let's just do what we've got to do,'" Alderson told the magazine about hearing his diagnosis for the first time last year.
Alderson's other credits include the films Reservation Road and Changeling, and TV's Law & Order. He is the younger brother of Kristen Alderson, who played his friend Starr on One Life to Live for years.
