WWE then announced that Sane would be moving on to challenge for the vacant NXT Women's Championship at the company's upcoming NXT TakeOver: Houston event.

The NXT Women's Championship was relinquished by Asuka in August days after it was announced that The Empress of Tomorrow would be out of action due to a broken collarbone. Asuka, who will be joining WWE's Raw roster, enjoyed a historic, 500-plus day reign with the title.
