Sept. 11 (UPI) -- Mindy Kaling's co-stars say the Mindy Project star is expecting a baby girl.
"I'm just thrilled out of my mind! I cried like a baby and that it's a girl ... I just think that's she's up to it," Grant said. "I just think that she's ready and I'm very happy for her because I have a daughter that's turning 25 and it's just the greatest thing in the world!"
"She's really good about giving young women opportunities and mentoring young women, so I think it's a natural thing for her to be a mom," the 67-year-old actress added.
Weeks shared similar sentiments, saying he's sure Kaling will be an "amazing" mom. He also remarked on how Kaling having a daughter feels especially significant, given the actress' mom died in 2012.
"We were so thrilled for her," the 36-year-old actor said. "The show started as a tribute to her mom, who very sadly passed away just as the show is being picked up, and it ends with her having a daughter of her own."
"It's a lot a lot. When she reminded us all of that, we cried in the final table read," he confessed. "I mean Jesus, life! It makes some very interesting and beautiful patterns sometimes."
People confirmed Kaling is expecting a girl in an article Saturday while reporting Kaling was "beaming" at the PaleyFest event. The Mindy Project, which also stars Ike Barinholtz, Xosha Roquemore and Fortune Feimster, will return on Hulu for a sixth and final season Tuesday.
