Sept. 6 (UPI) -- Aaron Carter announced on Twitter Tuesday that he was involved in a car crash that he described as "terrible."

"Life is really so precious, I just got into a terrible accident and completely totaled my BMW M4," the pop star wrote.

"I never meant to get into an accident as severe as this. I've ran into people before and honestly nothing compares to what happened today," he continued before assuring fans that he is OK.

"Thank you for all the support and love. Means a lot. Accidents happen. I'm just happy both of us were ok."

A representative for Carter also confirmed that the 29-year-old was doing OK following the crash and that he still plans on performing on Saturday and Tuesday.

"Aaron was in a traffic accident this morning near his home and fortunately no one was hurt. Aaron is fine and at home resting," the rep said to Us Weekly. "He will be performing in Memphis on Saturday and in New York on Tuesday and looks forward to seeing all his fans."

Carter recently made headlines for asking out actress Chloe Grace Moretz on Twitter, days after the singer announced he is bisexual, and following his breakup with girlfriend Madison Parker.
