Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Jamie Foxx has announced on Instagram that he will be hosting a Hurricane Harvey telethon to help raise money for relief efforts.

"Texas hang in there. Sending love prayers and finance .... #texasboy," the actor wrote Wednesday alongside a video of himself discussing the telethon that will take place on Sept. 12.

"Just wanted to let everyone in Texas know, we got you. From a fellow Texan, my heart goes out, my prayers go out," Foxx says in the clip.

"September 12, we have a telethon that we're doing. We'll give you more details, so we can raise as much money as we can for everybody down there," he continues.

The 49-year-old also mentions how he has donated $25,000 to GlobalGiving to help with Harvey relief.

TMZ reports that Foxx will be hosting a telethon in Los Angeles with Houston native Hillary Duff being a potential guest while Blake Shelton and Reese Witherspoon will be hosting a simultaneous telethon in Nashville. A third one, in New York City, is also scheduled to feature Houston natives Michael Strahan and Kelly Rowland.

Foxx is the latest celebrity to donate money and pledge his support to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts following Kevin Hart and country star Chris Young.

Sandra Bullock, Beyonce and Jennifer Lopez have also donated money to help victims of the storm.
