'Street Fighter V': New character Menat announced in gameplay trailer

Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Menat is the newest character to join developer Capcom's Street Fighter V in time for the series' 30th anniversary.

Announced Sunday at the E-Sports Festival Hong Kong 2017 event, alongside a gameplay trailer, Menat, also known as The Eyes of the Future, is an original character who has never appeared in a Street Fighter title before.

"Have you considered your destiny? Do you believe in fate?" Menat says in the trailer before she takes on series regular Ryu with her crystal ball.

Menat will have two additional costumes in the game including her hooded story costume and an Egyptian-themed battle costume.

Fans have speculated that the fortune teller would be joining the game's roster after she was featured in character Ed's story mode and resembled a silhouette previously released to announce future characters.

Menat who is set to arrive Tuesday, is the 27th character on the Street Fighter V roster and is the eighth new character.

The original Street Fighter was first released in Japanese arcades on Aug. 30, 1987.
