Jazz Jennings responds to Derick Dillard's 'cyber-bullying'

Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Transgender star Jazz Jennings responded Thursday to Derick Dillard's "cyber-bullying" about her TLC show.

The 16-year-old I Am Jazz star shared a positive message with fans after Dillard, the 28-year-old husband of Jill & Jessa: Counting On star Jill Duggar, disparaged her series and said "'transgender' is a myth.'"

"Every day I experience cyber-bullying, but I keep sharing my story. Today was no different," she tweeted to her followers.

Dillard made his remarks Wednesday after seeing a TLC promo for I Am Jazz. He re-tweeted the advertisement for the series, saying the reality show doesn't make sense because it follows "a non-reality."

"What an oxymoron... a 'reality' show which follows a non-reality. 'Transgender' is a myth. Gender is not fluid; it's ordained by God," he wrote.

Jennings received an outpouring of support from fans, many of whom also accused Dillard of cyber-bullying. Patricia Arquette, the sister of late transgender actress Alexis Arquette, was among the stars to speak out.

"Thank you for your strength and leadership!" she tweeted to Jennings.

Jennings came to fame on YouTube before landing I Am Jazz, which premiered in mid-July. Dillard and wife Jill Duggar appeared on the TLC series 19 Kids & Counting before starring on Jill & Jessa: Counting On.
