Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Seven actors from the original West End production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will appear in the Broadway staging of the two-part play.
The theatrical drama -- which recently won nine Olivier Awards in the United Kingdom -- is a sequel to J.K. Rowling's seven Harry Potter novels. Previews are to begin in New York next March.
Jamie Parker will play the adult wizard Harry Potter, while Noma Dumezweni will play Hermione Granger, Paul Thornley will play Ron Weasley, Poppy Miller will play Ginny Potter, Sam Clemmett will play Albus Potter, Alex Price will play Draco Malfoy and Anthony Boyle will play Scorpius Malfoy.
"We have assembled an extraordinary cast for Broadway," director John Tiffany said on the Broadway play's website. "Our Cursed Child family is growing with 28 brilliant new actors bringing their unique talents to our production. I also can't wait to dive back into it with seven of our original London cast members reprising their thrilling performances for New York audiences. The adventure continues..."
"I cannot wait to bring Harry Potter and the Cursed Child to Broadway, so a whole new audience can have their chance to come along. Theatre land in New York City is one of the most exciting places going," Parker told Rowling's Pottermore website.
"New York -- Broadway -- it's happening! To be able to go there with this extraordinary show... My dream list is ticked! Playing a character who means so much to me and, of course, to so many, makes it even more special. It's an absolute privilege and I'm looking forward to this next adventure working with our Broadway company," Dumezweni added.
Tickets are to go on sale in October.
