Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Nathaniel Glover, a rap pioneer known as The Kidd Creole, was arrested Wednesday for stabbing a homeless man to death in New York.
Glover, 57, is best known for his work with Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five, which was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007.
TMZ reported Glover stands accused of using a small knife to stab 55-year-old John Jolly in the head and chest in Manhattan Tuesday night.
The New York Daily News said Glover, now a handyman and security guard, was on his way to work when he crossed paths with the apparently intoxicated Jolly, a convicted rapist, and thought Jolly was hitting on him.
"They had no prior relationship," a police source told the newspaper. "They had words. Things got out of hand. It was some sort of diss."
Glover has been charged with murder.
