EXO's 'The War' tops Billboard's World Albums chart

SEOUL, South Korea, July 26 (UPI) -- K-pop boy band EXO's latest album rose to the top of Billboard's World Albums chart, according to the music publication Wednesday.

"The War," EXO's fourth full-length studio album, was ranked No. 1 on the chart, becoming the most sold international album in the United States for the week of Aug. 5, according to Billboard's website.

The record also stood at 87th on the Billboard 200, the publication's main album chart.

After releasing the album July 18, EXO stormed major music streaming charts Wednesday with its new album, also conquering more than 30 Apple iTunes charts around the world.

The record smashed local and multiple Apple iTunes charts upon its release. The lead reggae-pop track "Ko Ko Bop" topped six steaming services' major charts, while the album conquered 37 iTunes album charts, including in Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Russia.

Since its debut in 2012, EXO has grown into one of the most popular K-pop boy bands in Asia. Last year, EXO garnered top honors at the Mnet Asian Music Awards, the Melon Music Awards and the Asia Artist Awards.
