July 25 (UPI) -- Alex Rodriguez couldn't help but gush about girlfriend Jennifer Lopez on her 48th birthday. The retired New York Yankees star, who turns 42 on Thursday, dedicated a sweet message to Lopez on her birthday Monday after ringing in the occasion with the singer at a joint party over the weekend.

"Wishing a happy birthday to this amazing human being who lights up my world every day. Te amo muneca!! #HBD #Leo," he captioned a photo on Instagram of Lopez.
Rodriguez and Lopez celebrated their birthdays with friends at a lavish bash Saturday in Miami. The former MLB player shared several posts from the fête, including a picture of himself with Lopez.
"Happy birthday to Us!!! #leos #305," he captioned the snapshot.
Rodriguez and Lopez were first linked in March, and confirmed their relationship the same month. Lopez told Access Hollywood in June that she and Rodriguez are "having the best time."
"He's an amazing guy," the singer gushed. "He's so supportive and loving. He's a great guy and we're just having the best time. We're blessed -- we have great lives, and we have great children. We're just enjoying every minute of it."
"I feel like if you want something, you have to really put your mind to it and then go, 'This is what it's going to be. My life is going to be this. It's going to be beautiful. It's going to be healthy. It's going to be happy. It's going to be full of love,'" she added.
Rodriguez shares daughters Natasha and Ella with ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis, while Lopez is mom to twins Emme and Max with ex-husband Marc Anthony. Lopez captured her kids bonding with Rodriguez in new photos in June.
